Hisstopher Walken, Hansel and Freddy are looking for new homes – can you help?

Can you help rehome handsome Hansel?
Can you help rehome handsome Hansel?

If you’ve been looking for a new pet and are keen to have one that stands out, look no further than the Scottish SPCA’s Drumoak rehoming centre.

The animal charity is looking to find loving homes for a range of animals – from cats and dogs, to ferrets and snakes.

While the SSPCA’s north-east base is purpose-built to care for a whole host of domestic animals, each creature deserves a forever home – and you could help!

Hundreds of animals are rehomed from Drumoak each year and this week we’re showcasing future pets, Hisstopher Walken, Hansel and Freddy.

Hansel

First up is Hansel. This sweetheart’s greatest love in life is getting attention.

He is very fond of a cat nap in a cosy bed, but is quick to get up if chin scratches are on offer. He is a nosy boy and is always keen to investigate new things or whatever you might be up to!

Hansel’s skin and coat where in very poor condition when he first arrived at Drumoak but, with time and a special diet, he is back to his best. His special diet will need to continue in his new home to ensure he stays in tip-top condition.

His current carers are unsure if Hansel has previously had outside access, so he may like to explore the great outdoors in a quiet, rural location once he has fully settled in to his new home.

Since he does love his attention, it would be best for Hansel to be the only animal in his new house so he can bask in all the attention. An adult-only household or one with children aged 10 and above would also be best so this cute cat can thrive.

Hisstopher Walken

This beautiful cornsnake is ready to slither into his new home!

Uniquely named and four foot long, Hisstopher Walken can be a little skittish while in his vivarium. However, he does settle with time when being handled.

He will require a knowledgeable and experienced owner who will be able to continue his handling to help his confidence grow.

A suitably sized vivarium with appropriate heating and lighting will also be needed so Hisstopher can live his best life.

Freddy

Freddy is an inquisitive bird looking for a new home to explore and make friends in.

While cautious of new people, Freddy has settled well during his time at Drumoak with his confidence growing around staff. To best support his needs, Freddy will need a home with plenty of understanding and knowledge.

Musically talented, he will happily whistle a wee tune with you, but patience will be needed for a bond to develop.

He will also need a large cage as Freddy likes to use every inch of the space he has. Appropriate entertainment and perches should also be on offer so that he doesn’t get bored when he isn’t exploring his new home.
