In pictures: Take a look around P&J Live’s neighbour, The Hilton Aberdeen TECA

P&J Live might be the new jewel in the crown of the north-east entertainment scene, but its next door neighbour is equally as impressive.

The new Hilton Aberdeen TECA hotel puts guests at the centre of some of the biggest events in Scotland thanks to its direct connections to The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA).

More than 40 special guests attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony recently to celebrate the opening of the new hotel.

The hotel’s general manager, Mark Leyland, said: “The hotel has got off to a flying start, welcoming thousands of guests for Offshore Europe just days after opening its doors – so it’s great to take some time to officially mark the occasion and cut the ribbon on the property.

“The team is exceptionally proud to bring Aberdeen’s only Hilton Hotels and Resorts property to the city in such a fantastic location, side-by-side with P&J Live.”

Located just a short distance from Aberdeen airport, the 200-room hotelfeatures a large restaurant along with a separate coffee and whisky bar, a spa and variety of conference rooms.

Walking through the front doors into reception, the scale of the building hits you.

A huge cavernous ceiling is lit with fabulous drop-down lighting as staff bustle around behind the marble reception desk.

Everything is as shiny and new as you might expect, with polished floors and hints of copper and gold everywhere you look.

Veering to the left you will arrive in the Quarter House Bar and Grill, the hotel’s on-site restaurant. In the mornings this is where complimentary breakfast is served, but it’s as the sun begins to set that the place really comes to life.

There is almost an art deco speakeasy theme, with lots of dark wood and gold flanked by smooth bottle-green marbled surfaces.

Booths offer some privacy and make the place feel intimate, though it reality it can seat just under 100 diners at any given time.

Menu-wise, think premium steak and seafood and you’re on the right lines. Though deep-fried Mars Bars do make a surprise appearance on the dessert card.

For a more casual dining experience, head through to Cask and Crema where bar snacks of all shapes and sizes are served all day.

It’s also the perfect spot for a pre-gig aperitif, as this is where you’ll find the internal corridor connecting the hotel to P&J Live itself.

Head deeper into the bowels of the hotel and there are five sleek conference rooms with all the usual facilities, along with two additional boardrooms.

Upstairs there are four floors of rooms ranging from standard to executive, all generously sized and immaculately appointed.

The hotel is also the only one in Aberdeen to offer a presidential suite, a real treat with a private terrace, studio kitchen and separate living room.

The Clarins spa and fitness suite is on hand for yet more pampering, complete with a fully-equipped gym, dance studio and 20-metre heated pool.

All in all, a real slice of luxury in the north-east.
