Overnight lane closures for A90 at Muchalls

A stretch of the A90 will face overnight lane closures as ground investigation work begins this week.

One lane of the southbound carriageway adjacent to Walker Drive, Muchalls will be closed due to the nature of the works between 7:30pm and 6am; starting on Monday, November 21 for three weeks.

The investigations will involve drilling holes beneath the southbound carriageway of the A90 to determine ground conditions in advance of designing a new retaining wall to support the carriageway at this location.

Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said:  “The planned ground investigation is essential to allow us to design the new retaining wall at this location. It is important to fully understand the ground conditions before undertaking any design involving earthworks.

“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption to motorists by carrying out the ground investigation during night time hours and avoiding working on the Saturday and Sunday nights.

“Our subcontractors will look to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible, and we thank motorists for their patience in advance and encourage them to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date journey information and leave a little extra time to reach their destination.”

The works will be carried out by BEAR Scotland subcontractors and have been planned in consultation with Police Scotland, Local Authorities and Traffic Scotland.
