Disruption expected for ferry users as gale force winds sweep over Western Isles

Ferries for Uist and Barra face disruptions today as a force eight gale sweeps over the Western Isles.
On her first full day back the MV Lord of the Isles has cancelled all sailings for Lochboisdale with winds forecast to hit over 40 knots.
In an attempt to complete the return voyage before the height of the weather, the Castlebay ferry has brought forward her departure time to 4am, some four hours earlier than normal. The MV Isle of Lewis plans to set off from Oban around 8.45am. Cal Mac warns the service remains liable to further disruption or delay due to weather.
The inter-island ferry to Eriskay is on yellow alert and may be cancelled at short notice, said the shipping company.
