Saints mauling has Foran demanding rapid revival

Caley Thistle captain Richie Foran is determined his side will bounce back from its 4-0 thrashing by St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Saturday.

Inverness had travelled to Perth as Scottish Premiership leaders, but it was a long journey back up the A9 after goals from Stevie May, Dave Mackay and a Steven MacLean double gave the hosts a handsome victory.

The performance was poor but Foran says they will work hard to get back to winning ways.

He said: “The good thing is we have our meeting on Tuesday and, win, lose or draw, after that meeting the game is forgotten about and we look forward to the next game.

“Our next game is at home against Partick Thistle and we have been doing really well on our pitch with four clean sheets in a row. We will look to put it right as we always bounce back from defeats.

“We are sitting high up the league and everyone is talking about us, so we have become a bit of a scalp to take. Aberdeen showed that with how they celebrated after they beat us 1-0 at home. We have lost two games to two really good sides but it has been a wonderful season for us so far.”

Injuries to James Vincent and David Raven meant Caley Thistle manager Terry Butcher was forced to change his line-up for the first time in the league this season, handing starts to Liam Polworth and Daniel Devine.

Foran added: “It is possible the changes did have an impact, but the lads who came in are good enough.

“We have had a settled side for a long time and it definitely helps. If we can keep the lads injury-free and keep the same starting XI then we will have a great chance as we know each other’s game inside out.

“On days like this you have to look at yourself first. It is too easy to blame other people. I wasn’t good enough. I suppose a few of the lads will be thinking the same. It is not a blame game at Inverness. If you didn’t do your job properly then make sure you do it right the next time.”
