A match to give Charlie familiar feeling

A match to give Charlie familiar feeling

Deveronvale manager Charlie Charlesworth will put old friendships to one side today when his former club Lossiemouth visits Banff.

Charlesworth left Lossie for Princess Royal Park in the summer of 2012 and, with several players having associations with both clubs participating in the match today, Charlesworth knows there will be few surprises in store for either side.

He said: “The game against Lossiemouth carries a bit of extra spice with a lot of familiar faces on show.

“But the reality is that I have been away from Lossiemouth for nigh on two years now.

“I manage an extremely competent squad full of quality and ability which I am proud to work with.

“Stevie Dunn is also shaping his squad at Lossiemouth and putting his own stamp on things, although I know for sure the Lossie supporters will be quick to say hello.”

Vale’s former Lossie midfielder John Urquhart is suspended.

Tom Hutchison is ruled out through work commitments, while Kevin Adams is out with a knee injury. However, captain Scott Fraser is fit.

Today will be a first game back at Banff for former Vale forward Shawn Scott, who left the club last week to rejoin Lossie.

Scott said: “It didn’t really work out for me at Deveronvale, mostly because of the travelling to Aberdeen to train. I just couldn’t do it.

“But as I live and work at Lossiemouth, this move has worked out perfectly for me. I am delighted to be back at Lossie and am looking forward to going back to Banff for this one. Hopefully, it can be a winning return.”

Huntly manager Gregg Carrol welcomes his former club Buckie Thistle to Christie Park in what promises to be an emotional encounter for Carrol, who won the Highland League twice in his time with the Jags.

The Black and Golds are hurting from Wednesday’s 10-0 league defeat by Formartine United, with defender Sam McKenzie sent-off in that match.

Buckie Thistle’s only absentee is defender Bob Duncan.
