With just three games left, Ross County manager Derek Adams is convinced his players possess the fortitude and desire to escape the Premiership’s play-off place
The Staggies head to St Mirren tomorrow a point above 11th-placed Kilmarnock and just a point behind the seventh-placed Buddies.
County are one of five teams aiming to avoid the play-off and Adams has no doubt his squad is tough enough to secure safety.
He said: “St Mirren have obviously won a few games recently, but in 2014 we are the form team in the bottom six. We are the team that has picked up the most points and we have to keep going and gathering that momentum.
“We have had good results. We won away to St Johnstone and at home to Kilmarnock, while drawing away to Celtic.
“We have had tough games but the momentum is with us and we are looking to take that into the final three games of the season.
“We have cut the gap on a lot of teams. Has the win last weekend against Kilmarnock eased the pressure a little? No.
“The players are handling the pressure, that is the good thing we have in the squad.
“We have a bit of experience and players who have come in on loan with the desire to do well.
“We have a younger element who play without any fear.
“We have the strength and we have the quickness and we have the mental strength going into these last three games.
“We have players I am sure will be strong and resolute over the next three games and in the last week of the season.”
Greek defender Evangelos Oikonomou comes back into the Staggies squad after missing out on the 2-1 victory against Kilmarnock.
Adams added: “Evangelos Oikonomou picked up an injury in training on Tuesday of last week, so I took him out of the squad completely.
“I have a few injuries to assess before Saturday, but no suspensions.”
