Police are working to trace a woman in Forres following an indecent assault in the town.

The woman is described as having long dark curly hair and was captured on CCTV sitting in a bus shelter near the High Street and Gordon Street junction, last Monday around 4.10pm..

It is believed she got on the number 10 Stagecoach bus, which runs between Forres and Aberdeen.

Police have launched the appeal after a 62-year-old man was detained in connection with the indecent assault earlier that day.

Officers believe the woman could prove vital to their inquiries into the alleged offence after being approached by two men.

She was first approached by a man in his early 60s, with short and thinning grey hair.

Described by police as being of stocky build, he was wearing a grey jacket and believed to have an Inverness accent.

Shortly after, the woman was approached by a second man, who was described as being in his early 30s.

The second man was approximately 6ft tall with short blonde hair, and was wearing blue jeans and a dark t-shirt with white lettering.

Both were captured on film attempting to engage the woman in conversation.

Police don’t believe she came to any harm but may have information of interest to officers.

The woman is being urged to contact 101.

Forres councillor George Alexander said: “If there is anybody who believes they might know anything about this, then they should go to the police.”
