
The crew of a creel boat were rescued from being swept onto rocks early today after their craft broke down in mist off Orkney.
Stromness lifeboat were alerted shortly before 1am to go to the assistance of the boat in Hoy Sound.
The vessel with two crew aboard had suffered engine failure.
When the lifeboat approached, the vessel was close to the Kirk Rock and being swept in on the last of the flood tide.
The lifeboat passed over a tow rope and brought the boat back to a safe berth in Stromness Harbour at 1.15am.
