VIDEO: Watch as bowhead whale is spotted near British coast

A video has captured the moment a bowhead whale was spotted in European waters for only the second time in history.

The seven metre long mammal, normally only seen in the Arctic, appeared in shallow waters in Cornwall on Sunday.

There were fears it would become stranded at Long Rock Beach near Penzance but fortunately the lone adventurer turned around and made its way back out to sea.

Hannah Jones of Marine Discovery said: “It is the first anyone of us has ever seen. It is so rare it is only the second ever officially verified in European waters.”
