Police are appealing for information following a serious two-car crash on a north-east road.
Emergency services were called out to the A98 Banff to Portsoy road near Smiddyboyne Farm, Portsoy at around 4.50pm on Friday.
The collision involved a blue Ford Focus and a silver Renault Clio.
The 21-year-old man driving the Ford Focus was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he remains in a serious condition.
The 50-year-old woman driving the Renault Clio suffered serious injuries. An 18-year-old man passenger travelling in the Clio suffered minor injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin and are in a stable condition.
Sergeant Peter Henderson of the Road Policing Department said: “An investigation into the collision is under way and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw either of the vehicles prior to the collision to contact Police on 101 as soon as possible.”
