A community grant scheme aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of residents in towns across the north-east will now focus on Turriff with £33,000 of investment.
The Your Voice Your Choice campaign invited members of the public and local volunteer groups to bid for a slice of funding to improve their community.
Once bids are submitted, local people are offered the chance to vote on which projects should be funded.
The scheme follows successful pilot initiatives in Fraserburgh and Peterhead and now the campaign has been extended to cover other areas in Aberdeenshire, including Formartine.
The cash behind the grant scheme comes from the Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership and is supported by the Formartine Community Planning Group and the council’s own Formartine area budget.
A partnership spokesman said: “As this is new to Formartine we have taken the decision to focus on Turriff this year as a pilot. Should it be a success other areas will be considered in future years.”
People have until May 7 to submit bids for between £100 and £3,000 for their projects. The public will then be invited to vote for their favourite ideas at an open day on June 24.
Successful projects from last year’s events in Fraserburgh and Peterhead included walking groups, men’s shed, community mini buses and community gardens.
Applications will be welcomed for all ages as well as from both formal and informal groups. For more information call 01358 726 458 or e-mail turriffyourvoiceyourchoice@aberdeenshire.gov.uk
