The widow of a man who was allegedly murdered has been fined after assaulting a woman on her doorstep in a row over an electronic cigarette.
Sharon Clampett, 38, was called out of her Crimond home last July after one of her relatives fell out of with a friend.
Her co-accused, 40-year-old Rena Sutherland, had slapped one of his friends and shoved him out of her top-floor flat after he was allegedly egging him on to obtain weapons.
The two women returned to Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday for sentencing after being found guilty of assault in December.
Sheriff Annella Cowan said: “The charge of which you were found guilty of warrants a fine, Miss Sutherland.
“Likewise for you, Mrs Clampett.”
Sheriff Cowan had originally deferred sentence on the women for them to prove they could be of good behaviour.
Fiscal depute Ruaridh McAllister yesterday confirmed that neither had come to the attention of the police since they were last in court.
During the trial, the court heard that Clampett’s husband had bought the electronic cigarette three weeks before his death and that it was mistakenly left in the home of Rosehearty woman Lesley-Ann Walker.
In an attempt to get it back, Clampett got into a doorstep argument with her.
And instead of retrieving the device she punched Miss Walker repeatedly on the head.
Gary Clampett was pronounced dead following an alleged disturbance a month earlier in Fraserburgh.
During her evidence, Clampett, of Logie Avenue West, said she was attacked by Miss Walker when she answered the door.
She said her relative had been “upset”.
She said: “He had fallen out with his best friend and was upset.
“I didn’t think there would be trouble.”
