Five patients were transported by road and one patient was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after two cars collided outside Fraserburgh.
The incident happened at 3.15pm where a red Skoda estate and maroon Citroen crashed at the Memsie junction on the A98.
Emergency services at the scene included five ambulances, three fire crews, the Helimed air ambulance and police units.

A spokesman said: “Fire crews used specialist equipment to free one person trapped within their vehicle.
“Five patients were transported by road to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and one patient was airlifted.”
Scott Deans, road policing sergeant from Mintlaw, said: “Six persons were taken to hospital and are still waiting to be assessed.
“Until that time the road will remain closed pending our investigation.”
The road remains closed.
