Police and fire crews went to Turriff last night following reports of a woman sitting on the Deveron Bridge.
The alarm was raised at around 7.45pm and the emergency services carried out a search of the area to ensure “there were no persons in difficulty”.
Inspector Colin Taylor said “Although there was no specific information to suggest that the female had come to any harm, it was necessary for us to confirm that. I am grateful to our colleagues from Scottish Fire and Rescue who assisted us in searching the area. I would also like to thank the public for their patience, as the road was closed for some time.”
If anyone saw the female, who was described as having long black hair and wearing black clothing, they are asked to contact police on 101 quoting as a reference incident number 3670 of 28/03/19.
