A heartbroken widow and her sons are still waiting for answers, more than a year after their 80-year-old father died in tragic circumstances.

Frank Finnie, who had dementia, left his home on Taransay Court, Sheddocksley, on June 7 last year but his body was not found until two days later, behind a disused exit of the city centre Aberdeen Market.

It sparked a large investigation into why the fire exit door it is believed Mr Finnie had walked through was not alarmed, and why it took staff so long to find him afterwards.

More than a year on, his widow Iris Finnie has spoken out about the toll it has taken on her and her sons, Keith and Frank.

She said: “The fact it’s still dragging on is affecting us all unbelievably.

“I am not well and there is a chance I might not be here when we find out what happened if this continues to drag on at this slow pace.”

The Crown Office has confirmed that the investigation into Mr Finnie’s death, being carried out by the city council, is continuing.

A spokeswoman for the market owner Rockspring said: “We hope that the investigation is concluded as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile Groupe Geraud, its managing agent, said it would not be appropriate to comment while the probe is ongoing.
