Picture by Jim Irvine. A car has been destroyed in a fire near an Aberdeen retail park. The alarm was raised at 8.20am yesterday and an appliance from the city’s Central station was sent to the scene on Denmore Road. The road was blocked and police were called to help with traffic management as the red Ford Fiesta burned until it was left a blackened wreck. Smoke could be seen billowing across the junction near the Bridge of Don retail park. A fire spokeswoman said the crew wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet to bring the blaze under control by 8.43am. No one is believed to have been injured in the incident and an ambulance was not required.
