An Aberdeen-based children’s charity has hired a former corporate lawyer as its new chief executive.
The appointment comes as Charlie House moves closer to the opening of a purpose-built specialist support centre in the city.
Louise Andrew began her new role yesterday, after 18 years of experience including senior roles at British Energy Group, KCA Deutag and John Wood Group.
More recently she held the role of chairwoman and interim chief executive at the charity Transition Extreme Sports.
Established in 2011, Charlie House provides support for families with children who have complex disabilities and life-limiting conditions.
The charity’s vision has always been to have a purpose-built specialist support centre in Aberdeen for children and young people in the north-east.
The project is currently in the planning phase, but it is hoped that building will commence in 2021.
“I’m honoured to be joining such an amazing organisation at a pivotal point in its growth”, said Mrs Andrew.
“Having had a premature baby who was looked after in neonatal care, I became very aware of just how fragile young lives are, and gained an insight into how difficult it can be for families to get the right information and support at the point when they need it most.
“Having a specialist support centre right here in Aberdeen will make an incredible difference to the lives of families in the north-east, and I look forward to working with the team to make this a reality.”
Charlie House chairwoman Tracy Johnstone described Mrs Andrew’s appointment as a “key piece” in the charity’s efforts to expand.
