HGV overturns on Aberdeenshire industrial estate due to high winds

Efforts are underway in Peterhead to upturn a HGV lorry which blew over in gale-force winds.

The curtain sided lorry was parked within Dales Industrial Estate when it toppled over onto its side.

The incident happened as high winds continue to wreak havoc across the region.

Met Office forecasters have issued a yellow weather warning for wind, covering both the north and north-east areas.

Police were called to the area around 10am this morning as efforts to remove the vehicle gain momentum.

The lorry is currently blocking one of several access roads to the estate.

Officers have closed the road for the time being as recovery of the vehicle is arranged.

A police spokeswoman said: “Around 10am this morning, police were called to Dales Industrial Estate in Peterhead following reports that a curtain sided articulated lorry had blown over.

“Efforts are ongoing to remove the vehicle.”

Meanwhile, the A981 will be closed overnight after a number of trees fell on the carriageway.
