A man has been warned he faces jail after he admitted driving dangerously around Aberdeenshire while almost three times the drink-drive limit.
Colin Gordon appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday and admitted committing three offences between July 26 and 27 this year.
Gordon drove dangerously around the streets of Huntly and Banff before colliding with a parked car. He then fled the scene at excessive speeds without stopping to leave his name or address with the owner of the car he had crashed into.
The 23-year-old then repeatedly failed to stop his car when he was ordered to do so by police and caused the officers to swerve out of the carriageway.
Gordon continued to drive speeding in the dark, and in poor weather conditions – all while twice the legal drink-drive limit. He had 96 microgrammes of alcohol in 100millitres of breath. The limit at the time was 35mcg.
Sheriff Annella Cowan deferred sentence on Gordon, of 40 Academy Drive, Banff, until next year for background reports to be carried out.
However she warned him that given the distance he travelled in such a dangerous manner she was seriously considering sending him to jail.
