One man has been taken to hospital and another charged following an incident in Inverurie.
Police confirmed that they were called to a disturbance at 10.40pm on Friday night, with residents noticing cordon tape in the early hours of the morning.
Kellands Road was taped off between the junctions at Westfield Road and George Square, with police and ambulance crews on the scene.
Police confirmed one man, 48, has been arrested and charged, and another, 44, taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
The man who was charged is due to appear in Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday.
Police remained on the scene until 2.45pm on Saturday when the road was reopened.
Incident left Inverurie pensioner feeling scared in her own home
Residents and neighbours on the street have expressed their shock at how events unfolded.
Elizabeth Milne, 74, was home alone on Friday night and said she heard events unfolding outside.
“I just heard someone trying to kick my neighbour’s door down”, she said.
“I stayed inside because I didn’t want to get involved.
“Then I looked out of the window and the police were there.”
Mrs Milne, whose husband John died many years ago, is a retired cleaner who only moved to Inverurie a few years ago.
“I felt scared, and the cat was worried too”, she said.
“It is terrible someone has been taken to hospital.
” I asked the police lady ‘what is going on?’, but she didn’t tell me.”
Police were searching in street gardens
Another neighbour on the street, who did not want to be named, said he also heard a door banging.
“After that I saw a load of bobbies”, he said.
“I am not a nosy parker, but when you see bobbies at your door you have a look.
“The next minute the whole road was blocked off, and that was at 11pm last night.
“Then I saw a man taken away in handcuffs.
“The police were following a trail along the road and were looking in the gardens but I am not sure what for.”
