Man caught with more than £10,000 worth of class A drugs

A man has been warned he faces jail after he was caught taking part in a drug deal in Aberdeen.

First offender Paul Ezenwa was getting off a National Express bus on Guild Street when police officers spotted him acting suspiciously.

The 53-year-old was not carrying any luggage and did not appear to know where he was going.

When he was stopped by the police Ezenwa said he had to make a phone call and admitted he did not know Aberdeen.

Officers then asked him if he was carrying any drugs and he admitted he had five packets “in his pants”.

In total Ezenwa, a prisoner in Barlinnie, was found with 139 grams of cocaine split between the packages.

The class A drugs were worth about £10,350.

Yesterday Ezenwa appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine on December 9, 2012.

He also admitted failing to appear for court, having been released on bail, on August 6, 2013.

Sentence was deferred for background reports to be carried out but Sheriff Graham Buchanan warned him it was “highly likely” that he would be jailed.

Ezenwa was remanded in custody and will appear in court again to be sentenced next month.
