A new restaurant could open in an Aberdeen City Centre building which has been closed for eight years.
Plans have been drawn up to make the ground floor and half of the basement of the former Esslemont and Macintosh building on Union Street into an eatery.
Earlier this year, developers Castlecall announced plans to turn the building into a hotel, but this will no longer go ahead.
The remaining floors of the seven-story former department store building are not included in the proposal.
Aberdeen City Centre Community Council chairman Dustin Macdonald welcomes investment for Union Street.
He said that many see the shops ending at St Nicholas Street and believes that this project would inject vitality into that end of the street.
Aberdeen City Council Finance Convener Willie Young said the proposal would enhance Marischal Square.
