Snow and ice warning for north-east

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for snow and ice in the north-east.

A yellow ‘ be aware’ warning has been put in place for Aberdeenshire and Moray from 6pm tonight until noon tomorrow.

The worst of the weather will be felt at higher altitude.

The Met Office statement: “A cold, showery airstream will bring wintry showers across the region.

“Whilst most showers at low levels will be of rain, they will turn to snow locally in heavier bursts.”

Showers will ease during the night, but could leave icy stretches into New Year’s Day.
