Did anyone see Ant and Dec in Duthie Park at the weekend?

Hundreds of people braved the weather in Duthie Park to appear on the hit tv show.

Hundreds of people gathered at an Aberdeen park on Saturday night as a leading TV show came to the Granite City.

Crowds braved the wind and rain in Duthie Park to appear on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

The show’s famous sofa was positioned near the entrance to the Winter Gardens and viewers had to turn up with their passport and a packed suitcase to have a chance of winning a cruise.

Producers chose a few dozen people who had rushed to the park with their passports and suitcase and one winner was chosen at random by former Pussycat Dolls band member Ashley Roberts.

Winner Ian Robbie was then whisked away in a waiting limousine to join the cruise ship which was sailing yesterday to Barcelona.

During the programme, Ant said: “We’ve caused a riot in Aberdeen”.

Aberdeen City Council communities, housing and infrastructure vice convener, Jean Morrison said: “It was fantastic to see Aberdeen highlighted, even if the weather wasn’t the best.

“About 200 people were there, either to try to win or just to see the show’s famous ‘win a cruise’ competition being filmed and I am sure they had a great time.

“Although it was a shame the weather meant you couldn’t see how beautiful Duthie Park is, it was still great to see it featured on Saturday Night Takeaway.”

The sofa, film crew and producers turned up at the park at about 5.30pm and the show was broadcast from 6pm.
