A man has died after a two-vehicle collision on a north-east road.

Emergency services were called to the crash on the B999 Aberdeen-Tarves road at Pitmedden Bridge at about 4.30pm yesterday.

Police, fire and ambulance were all sent to the scene and discovered a Honda Jazz had collided with a Volksgwagen Golf.

And last night police confirmed a man had died after being injured in the incident.

A police spokesman said: “We can confirm that this accident has been a fatal one.

“A man has died in what came in as a two-vehicle crash.”

The road was closed late last night as police carried out investigations.

The collision was not the only serious one to take place on north-east roads yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the A93 Aberdeen to Ballater road just before 4pm after reports of a crash at the Kirkton Cottages to the east of Aboyne.

Upon their arrival they discovered a white Ford Transit and a grey Suzuki Vitara had collided.

A woman in her 50s was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Her injuries are understood to be serious.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 3.55pm today to attend a road traffic collision. We dispatched two ambulances to the scene.

“One female patient in her 50s was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”

Emergency services were later called to the A947 Aberdeen to Banff road following a crash at Newmachar at 6.30pm.

A police spokeswoman said: “The road is closed in both directions. A woman is injured but it is not thought to be serious.”

The road was temporarily closed in both directions but opened shortly after.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital yesterday after a crash near Inverurie Garden Centre.

Emergency services were called to the collision between a car and a motorbike on the town’s Souterford Road just after 11am.

One lane was blocked while the vehicles were taken off the road.

An ambulance spokesman said: “We dispatched one ambulance to the scene.

“One male patient in his 40s was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”

It is not known if the man was driving the car or motorbike.
