The north-east’s biggest house-builder has tabled plans to demolish an Aberdeen hotel and build homes on the cleared site.

Stewart Milne Homes has submitted a proposal of application notice for a residential development with parking at the Cloverleaf Hotel in Bucksburn.

A spokeswoman for the company said yesterday that the building on Kepplehills Drive would be demolished.

The firm plans to build houses on the site, but the spokeswoman said it was too early to say how many properties there might be.

The spokeswoman for Stewart Milne Homes North said: “We have submitted a notice for planning application for a new residential development on the site of the Cloverleaf Hotel.

“We are looking forward to the opportunity to engage with local people to listen to their views and opinions.”

The Cloverleaf Hotel, which is still open for business, did not respond to a request for comment yesterday.

Meanwhile, plans have also been lodged for a new hotel as part of a business park development near Aberdeen International Airport.

The six-storey, 200-room facility is proposed for Argyll Way in the ABZ business park in Dyce.

The £15million venture from hotel operator Moxy would be its first in the UK.

The firm already trades in Milan and plans to open an outlet in London as well as Oslo in Norway and Munich, Berlin, and Frankfurt in Germany.

Moxy Hotels is a joint venture between Marriott International and the property division of the Inter IKEA Group, Inter Hospitality Holding BV.

If approved, the Moxy would be the third hotel planned for the ABZ complex, alongside proposals for a Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.
