Police have launched a major search for a man who has been missing from his Aberdeen home for four days.

Allen Walker, 37, was last seen by a family member at his home, in the Bucksburn area of the city, at around 9am on Thursday.

Investigating officer constable Sorcha Burns urged members of the public to come forward with information.

He said: “Mr Walker’s disappearance is out of character and naturally this is a worrying time for his family and friends.

“We would appeal to any person who may have seen Allen in recent days or have information in relation to his whereabouts to contact the police to assist us with or inquiries.”

Mr Walker is known to frequent the city centre and often travels within the city by bus.

He is 5ft 10in, and stocky, with receding brown hair and a distinctive visible scar across his scalp, from ear to ear, and is thought to have been wearing a bright turquoise Trespass outdoor jacket, black jeans, white trainers and tinted glasses.

Yesterday the Police Scotland helicopter, which is usually based in the Glasgow area, was drafted in to assist and could be seen circling the skies above Bucksburn throughout the morning and early afternoon.

It was the second time the aircraft has been flown to the city in less than two weeks to assist with a missing person investigation, having also taken part in the hunt for 40-year-old Kelli Ferris, who has been missing for more than three weeks.

Police renewed an appeal for information about Ms Ferris’ whereabouts, who was last spotted outside the Aberdeen Sheriff Court building shortly before 7pm on September 10.

In recent days, officers received information that a woman matching her description was seen getting into a taxi in Golf Road, around 90 minutes later.

CCTV footage recorded a taxi going past the Burger King at Beach Esplanade at 8.40pm and officers have been told a woman got out of the vehicle beyond the range of the cameras.

Ms Ferris is 5ft 4in, and slim, with shoulder-length red hair. When last seen, she was wearing dark trousers and a blue jacket, and carrying a brown handbag.

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
