Latest plans for the proposed new multi-million pound Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre are to go on show later this month.

Updated designs and images will be unveiled on Friday March 27 at the Bon Accord Centre with the plans then to go on show at Marishcal College.

Planning applications are due to be lodged by Henry Boot Developments in early summer.

This will be the third round of public consultation on a new 15,000 seater stadium and exhibition space at Bucksburn and the redevelopment of the current AECC site at Bridge of Don.

A green energy centre, which will provide enough power for the new AECC, three hotels, offices, parking and parkland, are included in proposals for the Bucksburn site.

The proposed final development option for Bridge of Don  includes a mix of  housing, business and commerce plus a recycling centre and an enhanced 1,000 space Park and Ride.

More than 2,000 people and organisations have been involved in the consultation process so far.

A spokeswoman for Henry Boot Developments said 72% of those responded supported the designs for the new AECC building.

Henry Boot Developments Scottish Director Nick Harris said: “We’ve reached an exciting stage in the project and I’m looking forward to sharing our revised proposals for a new Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, and for the site at Bridge of Don.

“We’ve listened closely to the many views expressed during the earlier rounds of consultation and I think people will be very interested to see our updated images and plans and to see the changes we’ve made.”

Aberdeen City Council leader Jenny Laing said residents must get involved in the changes.

She said: “The creation of a new AECC and the proposed redevelopment of the Bridge of Don site are very significant for Aberdeen.

“It is important that citizens get involved with the process and make their views known to the developer. This is the final round of consultation which will be carried out by Henry Boot Developments, after which people will be able to make representations on the proposals to the planning authority.”

The public consultation event will also run on Saturday March 28 in the Bon Accord Centre.

The plans will be on show from Monday March 30 at Marischal College until Friday April 10.

This will be the final opportunity for the public to share their views with Henry Boot Developments.
