A horse has died after a collision on a north-east road.
The animal was hit by a car on the A944 Alford to Dunecht road, near Dockenwell at 4pm yesterday afternoon.
The horse is believed to have been on the loose at the time of the incident and was put down when a vet arrived at the scene.
Police closed the road temporarily yesterday afternoon.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Our understanding is the horse was loose in the middle of the road.
“The driver was treated for shock and minor injuries.”
