Here are three stories you may have missed from Inverness Sheriff Court this week.

1) A 64 year old Beauly man drove while almost five times the legal drink driving limit and collided with a police car.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that the accident happened on the A862 Inverness to Beauly Road close to Alan Cadden’s home at the Lovat Bridge Caravan site.

The court heard the police car was travelling in the opposite direction on January 21 and noticed Cadden’s vehicle was too far over on to their side of the carriageway.

As he passed, he struck the police car, causing it slight damage, fiscal depute Ross Carvel said.

Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald called for a background report because of “the high reading” and deferred sentence until March 8.

2) A 47-year-old Dingwall man who threatened his partner after she disturbed him as he was falling asleep will be sentenced on August 20.

Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald told Jacek Konopko, of MacIntyre Place, to be of good behaviour and he would be dealt with leniently.

He admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards Ilona Szymanska on December 17 in their home.

His lawyer David Patterson said he worked long hours and was having a lot of sleepless nights due to their 20 month old twins.

“He missed Christmas as a result and his partner wants him back.” Mr Patterson added.

3) An Alness man who pushed his partner in a drunken argument was ordered to be of good behaviour for six months yesterday.

Carl Wheatley, 43, of Coul Park, admitted at Inverness Sheriff Court conducting himself in a disorderly manner by shouting at his partner Aniko Sziraczki and pushing her on the body in Inverness on December 30 last year.

Defence solicitor Alison Foggo said the couple the couple were ashamed of their drunken behaviour.

“She has written to the court to say that she believes he did nothing wrong and she did not make a complaint.

“My client has spent five days and four nights in custody, the relationship is to continue. This has been a salutary lesson for him of the perils of drinking and then getting into a domestic argument.”

Wheatley will re-appear on August 20 for sentence.
