A north east man has been placed under three years of supervision after being caught with “extreme” pornographic images involving adults, children and animals.
Stephen Reid, 63, appeared in the dock at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
He admitted taking, permitting to have taken or making an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of children on February 8, 2018.
Reid, whose address was given as Stuartfield in Aberdeenshire, also admitted possessing “extreme pornographic” images of humans and animals.
The images and video were found on his HP laptop and Samsung laptop.
Fiscal depute Anna Chisholm told the court that police officers had attended Reid’s home address on May 12, 2019 to detain him.
He was then cautioned and arrested before appearing at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on June 4 last year.
As an alternative to a custodial sentence, Reid was placed under a three-year supervision requirement and ordered to take part in the Moving Forward, Making Changes programmed which is designed for sex offenders.
Sheriff Philip Mann said: “These are serious charges which could be treated by way of a custodial sentence.
“The number of images are on the low side, but nonetheless that does not excuse the offence or make it less serious.”
