A man has been fined after punching a fellow reveller during a “scuffle” after they got off a party bus.
Kyle Milne, of Lochinch Park in Cove, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday, where he was ordered to pay £525.
The 20-year-old admitted assaulting 21-year-old Ceinan Collins with one punch to the head on Saturday, March 9, at Oldmeldrum Road in Pitmedden.
The pair were on a party bus, when it stopped and Milne and Mr Collins got off.
Fiscal depute Felicity Merson told the court there was a “scuffle” between the pair.
She added: “Milne proceeded to punch the complainer on the head causing him to fall on the ground.
“There were witnesses nearby who attended and assessed the complainer’s injury.
“Someone said it had ‘swollen up like a tennis ball’, and the eye was swollen shut.
“The complainer was taken to hospital and the only treatment for it was pain killers.”
Milne’s defence agent, Michael Burnett, said his client had been drinking, and thought Mr Collins was “being aggressive” before taking the “opportunity” to confront him.
Sheriff Philip Mann said: “Regardless of the fact that he may have annoyed you, it was completely out of order to take the opportunity to have a fight with him.
“You should have not acted in that manner.
“You need to take a hard look at yourself if this is due to your overindulgence of drink.”
