A woman who stole hundreds of pounds worth of clothes from TK Maxx also tried to bite a security guard as she attempted to flee the store.

Sukhjeet Sundal, 39, appeared via video link at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted trying to steal more than £350 of clothes and other items from the Kittybrewster store.

As a security guard tried to stop her from leaving with the loot, Sundal flew into a rage and attempted to bite him on the arm.

She was later found with a knife in her pocket.

Sundal pleaded guilty to three charges of stealing clothes from TK Maxx, being in possession of a knife and of trying to bite the guard’s arm.

Accused had lock knife in her pocket

Fiscal depute Sean Ambrose told the court that Sundal was caught as she attempted to leave the store.

He said Sundal then lunged at a male security guard and tried to bite him.

Police arrived and took Sundal to Kittybrewster Custody Suite, where they found a 3.5-inch lock knife in her pocket.

‘She lives a hectic life’

Defence agent Neil McRobert told the court that Sundal had a longstanding drug problem at the time of the offence.

He added: “She was stopped at the door of the shop and that’s when the assault took place on the officer.

“She told me that she used the knife for scraping her pipe for drug consumption and had no intention of using it in this offence.

“Ms Sundal lives a hectic life and drugs have caused her more problems than they have solved and now she finds herself here.”

Sheriff Graham Buchanan sentenced Sundal, of Gerrard Street, Aberdeen, to three months and thirty days in prison, backdated to January 10 this year.
