A Sheffield man has been hit with a £135 fine after being clocked doing 92mph on the A96 near Kintore.

Kimanie Hyatt, 34, admitted a charge of speeding in the 70mph zone.

Justice of the Peace Carole Ledingham handed Hyatt, of Herries Place, Sheffield, three penalty points on top of the fine.

Man rode uninsured e-scooter near police station

A man has been fined after riding his e-scooter near a police station without realising he needed insurance for it.

Kevin Donegan, 26, admitted driving the vehicle without insurance on Queen Street in Aberdeen on August 26 last year, while it was still home to the police’s city headquarters.

Defence agent John Hardie said: “He wasn’t aware when he bought the e-scooter in question for £749 at Halfords that it was a motor vehicle and that it required him to have a licence and insurance.

“Even if he had a licence and insurance, he’s not allowed to use it.

“This is a situation arising from someone buying a product they didn’t understand.

“There’s really no way to legally use something like this and it’s rather frustrating they’re still for sale.”

Justice of the Peace Carole Ledingham gave Donegan, of Jasmine Terrace, Aberdeen, six penalty points and a £320 fine.

Kingswells speeder

A man was caught breaking the speed limit on the A944 near Kingswells.

Tomasz Halczyn, 33, admitted speeding at 55mph in the 40mph zone on August 27 2021.

Justice of the Peace Carole Ledingham gave Halczyn, of Formartine Road, Aberdeen, three penalty points and a £110 fine.

Man’s threat to hit victim in face

A man has been fined for sending a string of abusive and threatening text messages in Latvian.

Janis Buse, 35, of Grampian Place, Aberdeen, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner over the incident on January 25 2021.

Fiscal depute Kiril Bonavino told the Justice of the Peace court in Aberdeen the texts had been sent in the early hours of the morning, around 1.40am.

Narrating some of the messages, which were translated into English from Latvian, he said: “I will hit your face, you dick.

“You think you can steal from others?

“Come outside otherwise your teeth are going to fall out.”

Buse also called the man a “junkie” and warned: “Your face hasn’t been hit before. That’s why you are a f*****g b*****d. I’m going to change that.”

Mr Bonavino told the court: “The witness took the text messages as a threat that the accused was going to assault him.”

Justice of the Peace Carole Ledingham fined Buse £160.

Kenneth Ferguson, 62, of Argyll Street, Brechin, pled guilty to speeding at 83mph, in excess of the 60mph limit on September 11 2021.

Window cleaner banned from road

A window cleaner has been banned from the road after being caught using his mobile phone while driving.

Daniel Fraser admitted a charge of careless driving on the A96 near Huntly on January 31 2022.

The 31-year-old, of Hall Cottages, Cairnie, also admitted having a defective handbrake on September 20 last year at The Square, Huntly.

Fiscal depute Kiril Bonavino said that despite the handbrake being fully applied, it was still possible to move the vehicle by pushing it.

Defence agent Sian Fish said her client had gotten rid of the vehicle with the defective brakes.

Regarding the careless driving charge, she said: “He had been looking at the sat-nav on the mobile phone to make sure he was going in the right direction.

“He shouldn’t have done that and he accepts that.”

Ms Fish explained Fraser is a “specialist window cleaner” and travels all over the country for his work. She asked for a ban to be limited to a short one.

Justice of the Peace Carole Ledingham banned Fraser from driving for 28 days and fined him £330.
