A Peterhead drug dealer caught with almost £10,000 of Class A drugs at an Aberdeen filling station has been jailed.

Alexander Henderson’s black BMW was stopped by police who had received intelligence that it was being used for transporting drugs, Aberdeen Sheriff Court was told.

When officers searched Henderson, 30, and his vehicle at the BP filling station on King Street they found crack cocaine worth £5,720 and heroin worth £4,210.

Fiscal depute Carol Gammie said Henderson was caught out at around 6pm on September 14 last year and promptly told police the drugs “had nothing to do with his passenger”.

“The car was searched and within the central console, three bags containing a brown substance were recovered, along with two bags containing a white substance,” she said.

Class A drugs worth £10k

After a forensic examination, the drugs were found to be 84.52g of heroin worth £4,210 on the street, and 57.27g of crack cocaine, which could fetch £5,720 if sold in one gram deals.

Henderson admitted being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs.

Henderson was stopped at the BP petrol station on King Street, Aberdeen.

His defence agent Sam Milligan said he’d been forced into shifting the drugs in order to clear a debt.

“There were no threats made to him but he was advised this was an option he was able to exercise,” he said.

“He has been beyond forthright and candid with the author of the background report.

“He has been asked to carry out this particular function.”

‘He was using too much at the time’

The solicitor stressed that Henderson had a drug debt to pay off at the time, adding: “There is obviously a suggestion that he was using too much at the time. He accepts that was his personal responsibility. He has addressed the use of those drugs. He is very much trying to curb a previous lifestyle.”

Sheriff Morag McLaughlin said she could deal with it no other way than by a custodial sentence given his previous conviction for drug dealing and the “high value of drugs involved”.

“It’s your second offence for drug trafficking, and it’s trafficking of a class A drug,” she added.

Henderson, of Springbank, Peterhead, was jailed for 12 months.
