A prolific thief who stole electrical items and food worth almost £1,000 from Fraserburgh shops has been jailed.
David Francome, 50, will now serve nine months after admitting eight instances of theft from the town’s Asda and Co-op stores.
The thefts took place between October 10 last year and January 25.
Stole electronics worth almost £1,000
Peterhead Court heard how he targeted supermarkets in the town after relapsing into a drug habit.
Fiscal depute Jane Spark said he was stopped and dropped goods of around £80 on one occasion, but other than that there was no recovery of his haul totalling £928.
Most of his stolen goods were expensive electrical items.
Defence agent Sam Milligan said: “There’s been a hiatus in his record between 2005 and 2022 as his chronic problem was under control at that time.
“He had a relapse and fell back into offending to fund his resurging drug habit.”
Served jail time before for shoplifting
Sheriff David Harvie told the prisoner: “This is quite a catalogue of thefts where there has been no recovery.
“You have previously served a custodial sentence of eight months for analogous offences which were in 2015. There were only four on that occasion, and there are many more than that in this instance.”
He jailed Francome, a prisoner at HMP Grampian but usually of West Park, St Combs, for nine months
