A charity chief executive has thanked volunteers in the Highlands and islands for their efforts this year.
Mark O’Donnell of Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland paid tribute to their supporters in the north who delivered over 11,700 hours with an economic contribution of over £122,000 in 2016.
He said: “During 2016 we were able to help more than 18,000 people through our advice line and patient information, support groups, financial grants, and our wide range of local services, which we provide in communities throughout the Highlands and islands.
“None of this would be possible without the invaluable contribution of our volunteers who in the north-west of Scotland deliver over 11,700 hours with an economic contribution of over £122,000.
“Their work is absolutely vital in our local support services, charity shops and other activities. We very much appreciate the commitment, enthusiasm and care they bring to the charity and to their local community.”
