Two German holidaymakers have been rescued after their holiday cruiser lost power and steering on Loch Ness.
The disabled cruiser was located by the RNLI Loch Ness lifeboat around one mile north of Fort Augustus on the southern end of the loch.
The lifeboat crew of Joy Cameron, Garry Macleod and Martin Douglas managed to find the boat with the help of the Royal Scot tourist vessel.
The two holidaymakers were uninjured and, after a quick safety assessment, the vessel was taken under tow to Fort Augustus where mooring assistance was given by a member of staff from Scottish Canals.
RNLI Loch Ness volunteer helm, Martin Douglas said: “This type situation can happen to anyone, thankfully the tourists called for help as soon as it became clear they were unable to control the craft.
“The language barrier was bridged by Joy Cameron as she has a reasonable grasp of German.”
He added: “We are very grateful for the assistance from the Royal Scot crew and the member of staff from Scottish Canals.”
The entire operation was coordinated by the HM Coastguard duty watch officers in Aberdeen and support given by other volunteers at RNLI Loch Ness.
