A railway display, featuring the Glenfinnan Viaduct, will be among the miniature replicas at this year’s Lochaber Model Show.

The event was held for the first time last year when it raised more than £1,000 for Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team.

And organiser, Robert Wilson, is hoping that 2016’s scaled-up show in Fort William on Saturday April 30 will raise even more money for the same good cause.

Mr Wilson said: “This year, there are more exhibitors filling all three halls at the Duncansburgh MacIntosh Church – the old hall, the new hall and also the hall on the first floor.

“All the exhibitors from last year – except one who is on holiday – will be there again displaying their latest projects or new additions to their collections.

“We will also have additional displays from talented local people, who want to get involved and support the cause.”

According to Mr Wilson, these include Harry Cline with his engineering masterpieces, Donald McGavin with some fantastic aeroplane models, Edith Knowles with her handcrafted dolls houses and shops and Eddie Donaldson with some of his 1:18 scale cars.

The small-scale railway display featuring the Glenfinnan Viaduct will be displayed by John Barnes and owner and builder, Martin Gentle, will be demonstrating a selection of his working model fairground rides.

Additional visitors this year from near and far will also provid

Mr Wilson added: “One of the aims of the show is to bring more local model building talent out from the woodwork and get them along to the show to display their work.

“This appears to be working – so far so good.

“All available space has been allocated for this year, but details can be left with me at the show if anyone wants to get involved in the future.”

Sponsors for this year’s event include Campbell Plant Hire, Boyd Bros, Caley Timber and Building Supplies, LBS and Highland Titles

Mr Wilson said: “Last year, it was a great success, and if we can continue to do as well in future years, it will make all the hard work and effort worthwhile.”

The show will be open from 10am until 4.30pm.
