The north faces another dose of bad weather this weekend with forecasts for heavy rain and gales in the west.

The Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning for Skye, Lochaber and parts of Wester Ross tomorrow and into Monday.

Forecasters said that the conditions could cause disruption to travel.

But already some of Calmac’s services on the west coast today have already been cancelled.

And the company has warned passengers that they may not be able to travel on Sunday as the bad weather continues.

The Stornoway ferry, MV Isle of Lewis, was forced to divert south of her normal course to avoid heavy swell earlier.

The rest of today’s timetabled Ullapool-Stornoway sailings have been cancelled.

Another casualty of the gusts was this morning’s ferry from Oban to South Uist was cancelled as is tonight‘s sailing from the mainland to Barra. Affected island travellers will not be able to get to the mainland until Monday afternoon.
