An 18 year-old man has been charged following an incident involving a laser pen reportedly being directed at an elderly pedestrian in the Nairn area last night.
At 5.20pm last night a report was received of a laser pen having been directed at the person’s face, who was walking along the A96 at Nairn at the time. The laser came from within a passing vehicle.
This incident is separate to an earlier appeal for information about a laser pen being directed at an Inverness bound flight on Wednesday 6th January
Police were contacted and officers traced the vehicle and its occupants, resulting in the 18 year-old man reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Chief Inspector Iain MacLelland said:“We would urge anyone who owns a laser pen to use it responsibly. Directing the laser any type of vehicle or towards people can have very serious consequences, not to mention the possibility of seriously damaging someone’s eyesight.”
