A heroin dealer is facing jail after being remanded in custody for a background report at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.
John Ross, 39, of Brudes Hill, Inverness, admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A narcotic in a house in Charleston Court on July 14 this year.
The court heard that police received information that Ross’s car may be involved in an offence and they stopped it.
Fiscal depute Roderick Urquhart added: “They found 10 bags of heroin in a rear pocket and another four bags on the driver’s seat.
“His house was searched and there was an envelope containing £1,050 plus bit of paper and cardboard with annotations and figures.
“There was also a reference to fishing rods and when police went back to search his car, they found another six bags hidden in one of the rods.
“In total, there was 36 grams of heroin with a potential value of £3,600.”
Defence solicitor Duncan Henderson asked Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood to continue his client’s bail while waiting for a background report.
But the Sheriff said he could see no other alternative to a jail sentence and remanded Ross in custody until November 22 when he will next appear.
He said: “This would appear to be a chance discovery of a commercial dealer in a Class A drug.”
