Franz Ferdinand and KT Tunstall have been confirmed as the headline acts at next summer’s Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival from august 3 to 5.

Formed in 2002, Franz Ferdinand have won a multitude of honours including the Mercury Prize and Ivor Novello and Brit awards.

The second of the band’s five albums, “You Could Have It So Much Better,” soared to the top of the UK charts.

KT Tunstall, a Mercury Prize nominee and multi-award winner, has released five albums and has enjoyed a string of hit singles throughout her career.

Festival promoter Joe Gibbs said: “This is the first time Franz Ferdinand has played Belladrum and we are delighted to welcome them to our stage.

“I couldn’t think of a better act to close out the festival. And we are thrilled to be welcoming KT back.

“She played before as an unannounced special guest, but we are pleased to have her properly on the bill this time.”

The event’s patrons will need a three-day ticket to see Sister Sledge headline the Garden main stage on the Thursday night.

The Philadelphia sisters have charted in the UK since 1975 with hits including “We are Family” and “He’s the Greatest Dancer.”

Thursday car parks and camping areas will be open from 8am again after this year’s successful effort to encourage attendees to arrive in a steadier flow throughout the day to reduce traffic congestion.

Arenas will open from 1pm on the Thursday.

When buying tickets online with Skiddle, Belladrum patrons are being given the chance to contribute to the ARCHIE Foundation, a charity helping to improve children’s hospital facilities in the Highlands.

The festival, which takes place in the stunning surroundings of the Belladrum Estate, near Beauly, sold out in record time in 2016, for an eighth successive year.
