Thieves have raided a construction site at a new school in Inverness.
Power tools and other equipment worth a three-figure sum were stolen in the incident at Inverness Royal Academy earlier this week.
Police are now investigating and have urged anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to make contact with them.
The tools were taken from a site compound belonging to Morrison Construction who built the £34million new school which opened earlier this year.
The break-in happened sometime between 4.30pm on Monday and 7am the following morning.
The thieves managed to get through a security fence before making off with their haul.
A spokeswoman for the force said: “Police in Inverness are carrying out inquiries in to a reported break-in at a construction site at Inverness Royal Academy.
“Between 4.30pm on Monday and 7am yesterday (Tuesday 20th December) site security was overcome before power tools and other building equipment – valued at a mid three figure sum – were removed.
“As part of inquiries police are appealing to anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious to make contact via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Morrison Construction said it had nothing further to add to the police appeal about the incident.
Police launched an initiative aimed at tackling thefts from construction sites in the Highlands earlier this year.
It was revealed at the launch of Construction Watch that equipment stolen from building sites in the Inverness area alone was worth around £130,000.
The figure could be much higher as police believe many thefts going unreported.
The site at Inverness Royal Academy follows on from the completion of the new school building earlier this year.
Morrison Construction and Hub North Scotland are currently leading the project to demolish the old school building which had served the city for the past four decades.
The old building is due to be levelled early in the new year and will be replaced with new car parking, a playground and part if two new all-weather sports pitches.
