Scottish alternative rock band, Twin Atlantic, have been named second headline act for this year’s Loopallu Festival.

The chart-topping band has had an incredible summer, playing to packed stages across the country including, Glastonbury, T in the Park, Reading and Leeds Festivals as well as supporting Kings of Leon on their recent stadium tour.

Singer Barry McKenna said: “We’ve had a pretty special relationship with the Highlands since the very start of our band and over the years have enjoyed some of our most momentous and defining gigs there.

“So we’re over the moon to say we will be continuing this tradition by playing Loopallu this year.”

The festival, which takes place on the shores of Loch Broom in the west coast village of Ullapool celebrates its 10th birthday this year.

Robert Hicks, festival founder and organiser, said: “Over the past 10 years Loopallu has been fortunate to have attracted some of the UKs biggest acts from Mumford and Sons to Paolo Nutini.

“2014 is going to be no different, and indeed a vintage year, with Scotland’s hottest act Twin Atlantic heading north only weeks after storming the Top 10 with their new album.

“We know the Loopallu faithful will be eagerly awaiting with arms and ears wide open.”

Also making its “Loop” debut is Literally Literary, a celebration of writing win association with Ullapool Book Festival and featuring best selling author Christopher Brookmyre; Katie Morag creator Mairi Hedderwick; writer, musician and journalist Doug Johnstone;Vic Galloway who will chat about his debut novel and Aidan Moffat, best known as frontman for Arab Strap, who is now a children’s book author.

Loopallu, which has already sold out, takes place on Friday, 26th and Saturday, September 27 and doubles the population of the village for the weekend.
