Mad Max creators star attractions at Cromarty Film Festival

Cromarty Film Festival is returning this weekend.
Cromarty Film Festival is returning this weekend.

Two of the key figures responsible for bringing the most recent Mad Max blockbuster to the silver screen will be guests at this year’s Cromarty Film Festival.

Mad Max: Fury Road producer Iain Smith and the film’s head of visual effects Andrew Jackson are heading to the Black Isle for the annual celebration of cinema.

Mr Smith has extensive back catalogue to discuss, including Chariots of Fire, Cold Mountain, Children of Men and The A Team.

Others appearing include Scottish actress Barbara Rafferty and influential producer Bob Last, who most recently worked on the new big screen adaptation of Sunset Song.

Film director and festival co-founder Don Coutts said: “It’s fantastic to be able to welcome Iain Smith and Andrew Jackson to the festival.

“Mad Max: Fury Road was one of the big cinema hits of 2015 and it will be great to have them both in Cromarty to reveal their experiences and insights of working on such a successful piece of work.

“We have a broad variety of guests this year with incredibly diverse backgrounds – from the acting talent of Barbara Rafferty to the music industry experience of Bob Last.

“It will be great to hear more about his experiences on Sunset Song and also his documentary work. The audience will gain great insights into these and the experiences of other guests in that fantastically intimate way that only Cromarty Film Festival can provide.”

Mr Coutts said: “As ever, the wealth of new and talented guests reflects the continued success of the festival. We also welcome back our fantastic festival stalwarts.

“Without them we couldn’t do what we do. Everyone is looking forward to three days of great company, great food, laughter and, of course, the realisation that shared cinema is a marvellous experience.”
