Three Moray pupils have been given the chance to follow in the steps of Helen Mirren and Orlando Bloom.

The National Youth Theatre (NYT) scouted the Gordonstoun trio after their school hosted auditions for the first time.

Boasting alumni such as Daniel Craig and Colin Firth, the acting school is the UK’s leading youth arts organisation.

Zoe Kinniburgh, Imogen de Castro Gray and Flore De La Mortiere all impressed talent scouts on their visit to Moray – the first time the theatre has travelled north of Aberdeen for auditions.

The drama students, who are all in year 13, came through a competitive selection process comprising more than 5,000 hopefuls from across the UK.

As well as dealing in local productions, members of the NYT have the opportunity to go on stage in front of an international audience.

Jack Hoskins, director of drama at Gordonstoun added: “We are fortunate to be able to commit so much time and energy to preparing for experiences such as this and in our successful drama and dance department we believe that experience is the key to success.

“Our students benefit from numerous performance opportunities throughout the year, alongside national and international tours, most recently to Malaysia and New York.

“I am sure that the three Gordonstoun students who have been offered NYT places will take full advantage of this amazing opportunity and follow in the footsteps of so many successful actors.”

NYT is already planning a return visit to the school in February next year to look for more talent from the north of Scotland.
