Hollywood producer David Gest has urged local people to audition for roles in a new musical he is staging in Lossiemouth.
The former best friend of Michael Jackson is creating “One Fond Kiss” based around the poetry of Robert Burns.
The search for undiscovered singers, dancers and actors will begin next month at the Rock Academy Performing Arts college in Lossiemouth.
Mr Gest, who was married to singer and actress Liza Minnelli, said: “I want to stage this for Scotland, in Scotland with undiscovered Scottish talent.”
The auditions will start on Saturday, July 5, with a search for three different actors to play Burns from the ages of 10 to 40.
Tish Tindall, who runs the academy along with Diane Aspinall, said: “We really need to jump on this in Moray.
“David is a world-famous producer who has incredible contacts everywhere, but he also grew up with the poetry of Burns and is a huge fan.
“The fact that he has chosen to premier the musical here rather than in the central belt is incredible, but he’s really committed to finding undiscovered talent.
“It’s going to really raise the profiles of whoever gets to appear in it, and there’s also the chance that it might tour worldwide afterwards.
“We’re not necessarily looking for experienced performers, but we are looking for real potential, a strong work ethic and bags of commitment.”
Women aged between 18-25 will be auditioned for the main female parts on Saturday, July 19.
Dancers aged 16 and over are being asked to attend on Saturday, August 9, while singers should go along the following Saturday.
All auditions will begin at 1pm, apart from the final audition which will take place at 11am on Friday, August 29.
Mr Gest, who will also play a role in the production, will attend on the day in order to make the final casting choices.
