A funeral ceremony will be held for Lamara Bell, today.

Lamara died in a car crash on the M9 which police failed to investigate for three days.

Ms Bell, 25, was found fatly injured on Wednesday July 8 in a car that had crashed off the motorway near Stirling on the previous Sunday.

Her parents described her as “our sapphire in the waterfall of life, shining like a ray of light”.

She died in hospital four days after she was discovered.

The crash had been reported to police by a member of the public on the day it happened but officers only attended the scene after receiving a second call from a different person three days later.

Subsequently, a review into police control centres is to be carried out.

Ms Bell and her partner John Yuill were on their way home from a camping trip when they crashed down the embankment next to the busy motorway.

Lamara, who was found drifting in and out of consciousness, died from injuries which included broken bones and kidney damage caused by dehydration.

A humanist funeral service will take place for the mother of two at Falkirk Crematorium.

Ms Bell’s parents, Andrew and Diane, said: “Her effervescent outlook in life was sometimes out of this world.

“One of her favourite things in life, that only a few people ever knew about, was her love of the TV programme Sky at Night.

“As a child she would sit with us in a darkened room watching as Patrick Moore would talk about the planets, moons and stars.”

Ms Bell’s parents said their daughter had passed her love of the programme to her two young children, Alysha and Kieran.

They said: “Alysha and her mother were bound by an unbreakable link that only a parent can understand, they shared a love of horses and music.

“When both of them were on an exuberant day the noise levels could break sound barriers when they sang.

“Kieran never left his mother’s side when they were together, with shouts of ‘Mum, Mum Mum!’. She would answer with a simple gasp of ‘what?’.

“He would just look at her reassured and run off like Stewie from Family Guy.”

The statement from Ms Bell’s parents said: “We, as a family, miss our daughter each new day.

“In the early morning our hearts shatter into a million pieces.”

A funeral for Ms Bell’s partner John Yuill, 28, who was found dead at the scene of the crash, was held on Thursday.
